Laura Johnson

Laura Johnson was born and raised in New York. She received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. It was there she discovered textile design -- and a passion for color, weaving and screen printing. She started her career working for textile mills, developing innovative and award-winning products for the contract market. She began her art practice while living in Manhattan, designing murals and textile workshops for NYC public schools. She currently lives in Maryland where she finds herself inspired daily by the Chesapeake watershed.
